Welcome to Elaine and Tim Carwile's Weimaraner Homepage. We appreciate your taking the time to visit! We live, with our dogs, in Waynesboro, Virginia, which is in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley, approximately 30 minutes west of Charlottesville, the home of the University of Virginia.
Our kennel name, "Kanati", is from the Cherokee Indian language and is roughly translated "first hunter" or "lucky hunter". Given our goals for our breed and our geographical location, the name seemed a natural fit!
We are committed to promoting the incredible versatility of Weimaraners. We believe that one can, indeed, "have your cake and eat it, too"--- that is, you can breed a show-quality dog with good temperament that excels in the field.
Elaine is an obedience/rally training instructor, breed handler and is very active in AKC tracking, having put TD titles on both Trisha and Atty.
Tim is currently President of the Weimaraner Club of American, an AKC-approved pointing breed field trial and hunting test judge, handles in AKC field trials and hunting tests as well as Weimaraner Shooting Dog and Retrieving ratings and is also a frequent contributor to AKC field publications. He is also approved by the American Field as a field trial judge.
We are also members of the Weimaraner Club of America, The Tarheel Weimaraner Club, Commonwealth Dog Obedience Training Club and the American Kennel Club.

Kanati Weimaraners has a new litter, born July 16, 2006!! We are really excited about these puppies. There are 3 girls and 1 boy. The parents are "Sophie" (U-CD, Ch. Kanati's Wild At Heart, CD/JH/RN/CGC/NSD/V/ASCA-CD) and "Rogue" (FC Aztec's Midnight Shift). Sophie earned all her obedience and rally titles in 3 straight shows, was shown to her conformation championship and specialed for 10 months and made it to # 2 Best of Breed Weimaraners before being retired after Westminister 2002. She is a natural backer and is very stylish on point.
As of April 2006, Rogue was the # 2 Weimaraner All-Age/Gun Dog. He won the 2003 WCA National Futurity in Ardmore, Oklahoma and, in 2004, the Eastern Gun Dog Classic in Medford, New Jersey. He earned his Field Championship in 2005. Rogue is regularly winning in all-breed field trials and is 2 points away from his Amateur Field Championship.
To state the obvious, this litter should have great potential
FLASH!!!
Annie and Lucy have both gotten Best of Breed this summer and Lucy has her Derby points!
