Ellen, our daughter Sharon, our son-in-law Derrick, Ron, and our son Steven, February 1998.
Sharon and Derrick were married in October 1994 in our back yard. They now live in Charlottesville, Virginia, a 25-minute drive from our house.
Steven lives in Eugene, Oregon. Here he is on a visit home in February 2004.
Sharon and Derrick's first son, our first grandchild, Leo Calvin Stone, was born on 14 December 1999.
Sharon and Derrick's second son, our second grandchild, Simon Henry Stone, was born 23 February 2002.
Derrick graduates from University of Virginia, May 2004.
We live in the Rockfish Valley, Afton, Virginia. Our house is at the base of the smaller mountain under the word "Blue".
Our house in summer and winter
We see the Blue Ridge Mountains from our garden.
The Rockfish River runs behind our house.
In spring, the redbud trees bloom in the woods all around us.

We have two dogs and two cats, a very elderly cat named Supervisor, and a young cat named Pixel.
We heat our house with wood, so our woodpile is very important to us!
We love to garden. Here are Ron and our friend George, proud collectors of a truckload of manure (from our neighbor's cow pasture). Then Ron tills the manure into our garden beds -- and here we're gathering some of the pumpkin crop the manure helped grow.
Here is a collection of 13 photos showing our garden from spring to fall.
We see lots of deer in the fields around our house. Unfortunately, they like our garden a lot.

Ron's mother celebrates her 90th birthday, September 2004. Leo eagerly awaits the cutting of the cake.
Ellen's mother celebrated her 90th birthday in November 2004.
Leo turns 5, December 2004.
Backhoe! Every child's dream: a backhoe digging outside your window (they were putting in a sewer line).
