Nazca Lines. The wavy lines and channels are dry river beds (although it almost never rains here), the straight, angled, and intersecting lines are of human design and construction -- including the thin line of the Pan American Highway cutting across the plain, about a third of the way down from the top of the photo. The highway was in place before anyone knew the lines were there, since they were not discovered until there were regular commercial flights over the area.
