Where's Ron?

In Yangshuo

Most of the tourists take the boat from Guilin to Yangshuo, with lunch on the boat, and then take a bus back to Guilin for Y400 (about $48 US). The "smarter" backpackers stay in Yangshuo, where there are many small cheap hotels and restaurants catering to the western packpackers, then they take a boat ride up the river, part way to Guilin, returning part way, and then a bus back to Yangshuo for about Y100. This picture shows you why both the travelers and the tourists must take the boat ride. It indeed was incredible.

Postcard from Yangshuo

The caption on the postcard reads "Fishing boats in spring rain". It was mailed from Yangshuo on 22 October, and the message says: Hi, Ellen: The route from Daojiang to Xing'an, then south to Guilin & Yangshuo is the best I have seen for biking -- but I was on the bus! It does sort of look like this. I am now on a day excursion by boat going north from Yangshuo with a group of westerners. This boat was much easier to find than the ones on the Mekong in Laos. Love, Ron.
