I came across your web site by accident, and I really enjoyed it. My great-gandfather,
born 1836, William Rollinson came from Otley England and settled in Ontario,
Canada. He married an Rose Ann Doyle from Ireland and they had 7 children.
My grandfather James Rollison (different spelling) had also 7 children
and my father name was Percy Harold Rollison. It was nice seeing so many
Rollinson's signing your book. Keep up the good work

Hi to the Rollinson's out there. My g-g-grandfather came to Canada from
Otley, Yorkshire. But some time later in Canada the name was changed to
Rollison. Great site
[Sorry for the delay. As you can see, I'm WAY behind in updating my
site!]

I am being driven mad!! My Great Great Grandfather David Rollinson was
a merchant seaman in England, his only known offspring was Alice
Margaret Rollinson. He was married twice: to Margaret Troy who died in
childbirth, then to Margaret Douglas nee Spelling. Don't know when he
died, or even where he was born 1845 approx. 1881 census name index doesn't
help. Great name.....not enough facts.......help!!......anyone?
Best of luck in your endeavours.

Just surfing and came across your website. I found the family history
section interesting. I know that our branch of the Rollinson clan came
over from England in the 1850's and settled in Massachusettes. It sounds
like yours may have been here longer. An intersesting coincidence: My
fathers name is Milton!
Regards, Mark

Interesting indeed, this is also my husband's family. His family is now
in the process of gathering information, I must tell you that some of
the pictures that he has come upon are photos of non african-americans.
He says his father has always told him that his great-grandfather was
caucasian from England. Will keep you posted.
Joanne Rollinson
2/23/99 James Rollinson, Winston-Salem, NC
While browsing the internet, I saw my last name, which is very rare to
do. I am an African-American. My great-grandfather is from England , if
I may, I will show a copy of his picture. His son, George Rollinson is
my grandfather; his son, James Rollinson, is my father. We moved from
MCormick, SC to Wilmington, N.C. I now reside in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Just seeking info. What do you think?
James Rollinson, Jr
[Response, 2/25/99:
Interesting.... While I had never come across African-American Rollinsons
before, I can say that my husband's family is from the Outer Banks of
NC.]

Hello, my name is Paul A. Rollinson, I was born in Bradford, England and
came to the US in 1981. I am a naturalized citizen and am searching for
clues about our name. It is unusual enough that I would bet we have some

9/26/98 David Rollinson, Worcester, MA
Allow me to introduce myself, My name is David Allen Rollinson, son of
Merrill Rollinson of Dayville, Ct. I was just searching the web looking
for some information on my family heritage. I was surprised to see how
many people had my name. Although I kind of always took comfort in the
fact that I thought I was the only David Rollinson in the world.I do not
know much about my Rollinson heritage, my father died when I was four
years old, after that I lost most contact with the Rollinson's on my fathers
side and was "adopted" by the Beaudreau's (my mother's side of the family)
I am a junior at Assumption College, in Worcester, MA majoring in French
Lit. and Political Science and would like any info on the Rollinson family
line. Thank you for your time.
check out Assumption College on the Web! www.assumption.edu

Rollinsons of Hatteras
Thanks for the great website. Nice to see all those Rollinsons out there!
We're probably all related somewhere down the line since there are relatively
few of us out here. There are a number of us in Hatteras.
The old-timers have a theory about how the Rollinson name originated. They
say that the first Rollinson to come to Hatteras was aboard a ship about
to sink, so he jumped into a barrel and a native onshore yelled "Roll
in son, roll in!" Nice story eh?
1/17/98, Grady & Nora Rollinson, McComb, MS
Nice to see some more Rollinson's. Not a lot you know.

I was surprised to see a Rollinson home page. I hate to say that I do
not know who y'all are. Being that there are so few Rollinson's, I would
assume we are related. I would like to find out how.
3/1/97, Brenda Rollinson, McComb, MS
HI Rollinson. GOOD TO SEE THE NAME
2/26/97, Gretchen Coody, Lake Butler, FL
I don't know if you're interested in genealogy or not. But anyway my mother's
sister was married to Carl Rollinson. He was from Gowanda, NY. I know
all he had was a sister, but I don't know about any other relatives. I
came to your page after a search on Rollinson. I noticed you had links
to some science pages and thought you might be interested. My uncle was
a professor of chemistry at the University of Maryland. He was a brilliant
man. He received his BS at U of Illinois and Doctorate at U of Michigan.
Skipped his masters. During WWII he worked on the Manhattan Project. He
was the 1st student in NY to ace the regents exam in Math. His main interest
was in organic chemistry. He did research and presented papers on zinc
and selenium in diet over 30 years ago. Now folks are actin g like it
just became the latest findings. Also big interest in Civil war. I don't
know if there is a family link to you, but just thought you might be interested.
12/23/96, Chip Rollinson, Morritstown, NJ
Nice to see other Rollinsons out there
