**- Southern Valley District schools
In fall 2009, Wilson returned to the Group AA ranks for the first time in 25 years, joining the Southern Valley District. The SVD was formed only 3 years ago when the old 9-team Valley District was split with the 3 Rockingham County schools and Harrisonburg forming the Massanutten District. Other schools in the SVD are Fort Defiance, Robert E. Lee-Staunton, Rockbridge County, Stuarts Draft and Waynesboro.
These schools are all located in the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia.

The Southern Valley is one of four districts in Region
III.
Members of the Blue Ridge District are: Alleghany, Northside, Lord Botetourt,
William Byrd and Staunton River. Members of the Seminole are: Amherst County,
Heritage-Lynchburg, E.C. Glass-Lynchburg, Brookville, Rustburg, Liberty-Bedford,
and Jefferson Forest. Members of the Massanutten District are Broadway,
Spotswood, Turner Ashby and Harrisonburg.
Region III squads have had good success at the state level, winning 16
championships and finishing runner-up 14 times over the past 39 seasons
(1971-2009). Turner Ashby is the state's AA leader with 6 state championships
and 3 runner-up finishes. The Knights most recently won back-to-back titles in
2006 & '07.
The 12-team Region III baseball tournament in 2010 will be hosted (semis &
final) by Alleghany HS at Casey Field in Covington
