**-Shenandoah District schools
The
Shenandoah District
In 2000, Wilson returned to the Shenandoah District for
the first time in 20 years. The Hornets, Riverheads "Gladiators",
Buffalo Gap "Bison", Luray "Bulldogs", Page County
"Panthers" and Stonewall Jackson "Generals" are the current
six members of the Group A district.
These schools are located in the Shenandoah Valley
region of Virginia, south and north of Harrisonburg. After four years at
New Market's Rebel Park, the league held its post-season tournament at WMHS's Bo
Bowers Field, home park of the "Hornets" in 2005. This season,
the tournament is scheduled to return to Harrisonburg at the new Harrisonburg HS
field on Garbers Church Rd..

Group A, Region
B
The Shenandoah is one of four districts in Region B.
Members of the Bull Run are: Clarke County, George Mason, Madison County,
Manassas Park, Strasburg and Rappahannock County. Members of the James River
are: Amelia County, Buckingham, Cumberland, Goochland,
Central-Lunenburg, and Randolph-Henry. Members of the Dogwood District are
Altavista, Chatham, Gretna, Nelson County and William Campbell. In 2007-08,
Appomattox and Dan River joined the Dogwood. The regional playoffs
involve eight teams from four districts.
Region B squads have had great success at the state level, winning 13
championships (including the past 3 seasons) and finishing runner-up 12 times over the past
38 seasons (1971-2008). Other than Wilson's & Goochland's 3 titles, R-H and
Central have won two while Chatham, Strasburg and Madison County have one each.
