    Setup and Primers
Entirely lost? Start with an NT 4.0 primer, courtesy of VirtualPortal.net (formerly Stephan98.com). Lots of screenshots and step-by-steps.

But for RAS Setup (including PPP etc), go to Frank Condron's RAS Setup Instructions.

And for NT faxing, be sure to check out the thorough NT Fax FAQ.

If you want to get the latest drivers for your hardware, Paperbits is updated daily with drivers and other important files (like Service Packs and utilities) for NT 4.

    FAQs and tips
John Savill's NTFAQ.COM is the comprehensive NT FAQ, nicely organized and searchable, with a Discussion Board for questions not listed in the FAQ.

For other less-frequently-asked questions, Jerold Schulman has compiled and maintains an extensive list of NT tips and registry hacks at his web site, JSI Online Information Service. These tips are listed by date, not category, but you're guaranteed to find information there that you can't get elsewhere (including code snippets, console commands, links to freeware, and so forth), so be sure to use his Search function to get what you need.

Another excellent "tips site" is Geo's NT Tips, which includes NT 3.xx tips as well as 4.x tips; security information; and "odds and ends" about computing in general (like beep codes). His site also hosts the SP4 Bugs page -- a much-needed resource for those who needed to deploy SP4 early (and were still freaked out from the SP2 fiasco). Thanks, George!

Dave Staines' Games under Windows NT lists all Windows games that have half-a-shot at working properly on NT 4.0. Surprisingly, even though NT supports only DirectX 3 via emulation, most of these games run out-of-the-box on NT! However, before you buy, head over to Dave's to be sure the game will work, and to what degree (for example, if a game will work, but without sound, you might want to know that before plunking down the dough). Furthermore, if a game requires special setup instructions, you'll find those linked, as well.
