Replace those dreadful Applets

    Calculator

I'm sorry but that dinky little calculator isn't even usable. I tried a whole bunch before I came up with RPN Calc, which looks great, minimizes to the System Tray, and takes up very little footprint.

If this link is still invalid, you can download RPN Calc from Hotfiles: try this page

    Editor

Notepad is... well, it's still just notepad. If you use a text editor at all, you'll want to replace Notepad with one that has a few nifty features, like drag and drop, ability to open multiple files, and auto indent. Especially useful can be auto indent, syntax highlighting , a good find and replace module (ie, through files as well as the current documents), and macro capabilities.

I use Ultra Edit 32, which is a great shareware editor (which also does hex editing). The support is excellent.

Or you could try the freeware Programmer's File Editor, which seems to have a loyal user base.
